What if I am not currently located in Ontario, Canada?

Currently, our dentists are only registered to practice dentistry in Ontario, Canada. This means our dentists can only treat Ontario patients. To receive virtual care from one of our dentists you must be geographically located within Ontario, Canada.

 

Our dentists will need to verify your current physical location before redering online care. 

Is my appointment covered by dental insurance?

If you have dental insurance, you may have full or partial coverage for your online assessment but you must submit for reimbursement on your own. We do not directly bill insurance and you will be required to pay us for your online dental services. 

Before your appointment we recommend that you contact your dental insurance company or in your online insurance portal if you are covered for a Remote Assessment of Chief Complaint - Two units of time, ODA fee guide code 08012. Please understand that there are many different dental insurances have different dental coverages and that there is no guarantee that our online dental assessment service will be fully or partially covered by insurance. 

How much does an assessment cost?

Our 20 minute online dental assessment is $164.

Our fees will increase in 2025, in accordance with the Ontario Dental Association fee guide and may be more than $164 at that time. 

How do I book an assessment?

You can book your online appointment through our booking website. All online appointments require a 50% deposit to hold your spot.

We accept credit cards or a visa debit cards through our online payment system.

Can I get a dental prescription online?

Yes, your dentist can provide you with a prescription , when the dentist deems it appropriate and necessary. Prescriptions will only be sent to Ontario, Canada pharmacies.

A prescription medication cannot be guaranteed for all patients.

What can a dentist prescribe online?

A dentist can prescribe medication for oral / dental infections and dental pain.

  • Antibiotics for a dental infection
  • Non Steroidal Anti-inflammatories for dental pain
  • Anti-bacterial mouth rinse for gingivitis or low grade gum disease
  • Anti-fungal cream mouth rinse for oral thrush, candida or crack corners of the mouth
  • Anti-viral medication for oral cold sores

What will you not prescribe online?

Our providers recognize the devastating effects of the opioid crisis and cannot, under any circumstance, prescribe narcotics online.

Our dentists also will not prescribe the following medications online:

  • Prescription strength muscle relaxants
  • Anti-anxiety medication for dental anxiety

How old do I have to be to book a Dental Care Online appointment?

You must be 18 years of age. If you are under the age of 18, you will require a legal guardian to book your appointment. Any person under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their legal guardian for the duration of the appointment.

We will require a valid photo ID to verify your birthdate, address and identity. According to Ontario’s Health Care Consent Act, 1996 (HCCA), there is no prescribed minimum age for consenting to treatment. If the ability to consent is in question, the dentist will use their best judgement to assess the decision-making capacity of any one regardless of age. 

Can you help me with an emergency dental infection or dental pain?

Yes, we can provide prescription care for dental infections and dental pain if deemed appropriate and necessary by the dentist.

Can you help me with an emergency dental injury?

Yes, our dentists can guide you through a traumatic dental emergency, such as a fall or a hit to the face that damages a tooth or your mouth.

What types of non-emergency dental assessments do you provide?

Our dentists have a wide breadth of knowledge and can provide you with advice, information and potential treatment options.

Our dentists can help by giving you:

  • Information on different dental treatments
  • Advice for the treatment of clenching and grinding pain
  • A prescription to help prevent recurrent oral cold sores
  • A prescription mouth rinse for gingivitis or signs of gum disease
  • Tips to improve your oral health and reduce your risk for cavities and gum disease

Can you diagnose my condition online?

Some conditions may be diagnosable online, others may require an in person dental visit to give a definitive diagnosis.

To aid in diagnosis the dentist may require you to send a good quality photo of the area by a secure email request prior to your appointment. It may be a good idea to have someone else help you to take the photo. They may need to use the zoom function and flash. Some dental conditions will require an in person dental office visit to take x rays and do diagnostic tests.

Can you give me a second opinion?

Yes, our dentists can give you a second opinion online. Our second opinions will be the most beneficial if you can provide us with up to date photos and x-rays of your dental and the clinical chart notes about your dental concern from your current dental office.

Please get digitial copies of your photos, x-rays and clinical chart notes related to your dental concern sent to you by your current dental office. We can send you a secure email, so that you can share this information with us prior to your appointment.

We cannot help clients with any form of legal advice regarding another dentists treatment and will not pass judgements on another dentists clinical treatment.

Yes, Our dentists are licensed to practice in Ontario, Canada. They are registered with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.

Do you have any cancellation fees?

Yes. Our short notice cancellation and change fee and missed appointment fee are both $82. This means if you cancel or change your appointment on short notice or do not show up for your appointment, your online-booking deposit of $82 will not be refunded.

Short notice is considered to be anything within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment time. 

You will be given a buffer of 10 minutes to show up after your scheduled appointment time. If you do not show up within this 10 minute grace period, a missed appointment fee will apply.

These fees apply no matter the reason, as the dentist has reserved their time just for you.

 If you are booking a same day appointment, we ask that you please ensure you are able to attend your appointment before booking. 

 

What technology do I need for my appointment?

You will need an internet connected desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone that is capable of video and audio transmission. You will need a strong and stable internet connection

To ensure that your technology works appropriately, we advise that you log into our online portal either to test your technology either on a day prior to your appointment to test your device or at least 5 minutes before your appointment.

Where should I be located to attend my online appointment?

You will need to be any location where you have adequate privacy and an internet connection. You must also be physically located within the province of Ontario, Canada at the time of your appointment.

What do I need to bring to my appointment?

Bring a piece of government issued photo ID to your appointment, such as a driver's license or passport to verify your identity. Bring a list of your current medications, if you have not already indicated all of your medications in your medical history.

What else may I need?

If you are booking an appointment for a child that requires an antibiotic medication, you will need access to a scale or be able to provide us with an accurate weight of your child in pounds or kilograms.

If a child requires a prescription and they are under the weight of 44 kg or 88 lbs, their medication dosage will need to be tailored to match their weight.
